Privacy Policy

Last updated: December 12, 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how AI Talk Mate ("we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in a way that is transparent and consistent with Apple's App Store privacy requirements.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Who we are & contact

The App is developed and operated by AI Talk Mate. If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, you can contact us at:

Email: support@aitalkmate.com

2. Information we collect

We only collect information that is necessary to provide and improve the App. Below we describe the categories of data in a way that matches the disclosures you see on the App Store.

2.1 Contact information

  • Email address: collected when you sign up or log in with email via Firebase Authentication, and when you contact us for support.
  • Name or display name: if you choose to provide one in your profile or it is provided by Google Sign-In.

2.2 Identifiers

  • User ID: a unique identifier generated by Firebase and/or our backend so we can maintain your account, conversation history, and subscription status.
  • Device and app identifiers: identifiers created by Firebase, Crashlytics, RevenueCat, or the operating system to help us understand usage, diagnose problems, and manage subscriptions. We do not use IDFA or similar advertising identifiers for third-party advertising.

2.3 User content

  • Audio recordings: when you speak with AI characters, your voice audio is sent to our servers and stored in S3-compatible storage (e.g., Cloudflare R2) so we can process it, generate AI responses and feedback, and let you review past conversations.
  • Transcripts and conversation history: we store the text transcripts of your conversations and feedback in Firebase (e.g., Firestore) so you can review them later and we can improve your learning experience.

2.4 Usage data

  • Product interaction: information about how you use the App, such as which topics and AI characters you choose, how often you practice, and which features you open. We use this to power progress tracking and to understand which features are helpful.
  • Crash and performance data: anonymized or pseudonymous crash reports and performance metrics collected by services such as Firebase Crashlytics to help us fix bugs and improve stability.

2.5 Purchase information

  • Subscription status: we use RevenueCat and Firebase to know whether you have an active subscription and which product is active, so we can unlock premium features.
  • We do not collect or store your payment card or bank details. Purchases are processed by Apple or other app store providers.

2.6 Approximate location

  • We may infer approximate location (for example, by using IP address in server logs) to detect abuse, comply with legal obligations, and understand where our users are located at a high level. We do not collect or store precise GPS location.

3. How we use your data

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • App functionality: to create and manage your account, enable sign-in, run AI conversations, generate feedback, store your history, and manage your subscription.
  • Product personalization: to adapt topics, difficulty, and feedback to your level and learning goals.
  • Analytics: to understand how people use the App, which features are most helpful, and where we should improve. Analytics are typically aggregated or pseudonymous.
  • Security and abuse prevention: to protect the App, our users, and our infrastructure from abuse, fraud, and misuse.
  • Support: to respond to your questions, bug reports, and feedback.

We do not use your data for third-party advertising or to create cross-app advertising profiles.

4. Third-party services

We rely on trusted third-party providers to operate the App. These providers act as our processors and may process your data on our behalf:

  • Firebase (Google) for authentication, database, storage, and analytics.
  • Cloudflare / S3-compatible storage for hosting and storing audio files.
  • RevenueCat for managing in-app purchases and subscriptions.
  • Firebase Crashlytics for crash reporting and diagnostics.
  • AI and speech processing providers where needed to transcribe audio and generate AI responses and feedback.

These providers are only allowed to process your data as necessary to provide their services to us and are not permitted to use your data for their own independent advertising purposes.

5. Data retention

We keep your information only for as long as necessary to provide the App, for legitimate and essential business purposes (such as maintaining security and performance), and to comply with our legal obligations.

  • Account data (such as email, user ID, and subscription status) is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards, unless you request deletion.
  • Audio and transcripts are retained so that you can review your history and track your progress. You may delete individual conversations or request that we delete your data.
  • Crash and diagnostic data is retained for a limited period to help us investigate issues and improve the App.

6. Your rights and choices

Depending on your location, you may have all rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete your information.

  • Review and delete conversations: within the App, you can view your conversation history and delete specific sessions where this feature is available.
  • Device permissions: you can control access to your microphone and other device features through your device settings. If you disable the microphone, some features of the App may not work.

We may ask you to verify your identity before responding to certain requests.

7. Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete the information.

8. International transfers

Our servers and third-party providers may be located in different countries. By using the App, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside of your own country of residence, which may have different data protection laws. We take steps to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data where required by law.

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you within the App or by other reasonable means. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when this Policy was last revised.

Your continued use of the App after any changes means that you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
